Despite Ifeanyi Ubah FC 4-0 whitewash against
Enyimba at the latter stages of the just concluded Nigeria Professional
Football League (NPFL), Onyekachi Nwaiwu, believes his team has what it
take to dethrone the league champions.
Speaking with Goal.com, Nwaiwu expressed optimism that the
Anambra based team has what it takes to lift the NPFL diadem next
season.
He said: “I am very certain we will bounce back stronger to win the league next season.
“We never had it too good as we had lots of shakeup in the technical department which affected the momentum we started with.
“As a team just returning from the Nigeria National League, it’s
not a bad outing for us as we placed 11th though we could have done
better if some things were in place.
“During the off season, we would restrategise and take everyone
by surprise because we are disappointed not to finish in the top three
which could have earned us a continental ticket.
“Hopefully, the management would also secure the services of some good players to make our squad very thick.”
Ifeanyi Ubah FC who only returned to the Nigeria topflight last season, finished 11th on the log this season.
One player whose brilliance outing caught the attention of many is Onyekachi Nwaiwu.
Meanwhile, Chukwuma Ubah, the chairman of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, has revealed that the team is in the process of unveiling a female football team.
If approves by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the team will
join the women’s league in the lower division league and hope to gain
promotion to the top division of the league.
Chukwuma Ubah also said that, the club Proprietor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah
is looking to create a sporting institutions in the state that would
involve football, tennis, athletics, basketball, volleyball and many
more.
