Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez joined by Fleetwood stiker on Puskas shortlist

Messi earns his place on the 10-strong shortlist for his sublime solo goal against Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Cup final, while Tevez gets a nomination for a bulldozing 60-yard run and finish. 

However, it’s the nominee from League One outfit Fleetwood that has raised the most eyebrows, although Ball’s sensational long-range chip fully deserves to be in the running.

Elsewhere, US women’s star Carli Lloyd outrageous effort in the Women’s World Cup final against Japan lands her a nomination.
