Otunba Gani Adams Floats Radio Station

The National Coordinator, Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams floated a radio station in UK.

The OPC leader who is also the convener of Oodua Progressive Union and the chief promoter of Olokun Festival on Tuesday, November 17, made history in London when he floated a radio station and an online news magazine solely for the promotion of “the undiluted Yoruba culture, tourism heritage and tradition.” The platforms have the theme: Advancing cultural values, unity and tradition of Yorubas in diaspora.
According to Otunba Gani Adams: “Oodua Voice is a charitable incorporated media organisation for supporting the cause of advancement of Yoruba heritage, promotion of language, music, arts, unity and social-cultural values among the Yorubas. It is projected to provide synergy for advancement of social norms, linguistic attitude and arts as being propagated by the scholars, and professionals alike, in the various schools of thought in Yoruba.”


Unlike its counterpart, Radio Biafra,  Oodua Voice according to the  merely for the propagation of the Yoruba culture and tradition so that the language will not go into extinction. It is for the survival of the language, culture and tradition especially with many children being born in foreign land. It is not a medium for political agitation.
A veteran Nigerian born Britain based journalist, Fatai Ogunribido described the stride as “the best thing that has ever happened to the promotion and sustenance of Yoruba culture and tradition in recent time.” He said that that Oodua Voice has come to stay and would be the best of such station in the UK.

The guests were entertained listening to www.ooduavoice.com where they listened to a programme anchored by Bubble Master and Lasley Oladigbolu , President, Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) UK.
Oodua Voice Radio is projected to be community radio station and it is to broadcast in the communities where Yoruba people are domiciled.

Oodua Voice Radio studios first cited in London, is streaming round the clock – 24 hours of broadcast packages to meet the demand of global audience. Over 70 countries are within reach and studios are being cited in few other countries due to demands.
Meanwhile, the director of Radio Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is still being held by the security agencies and many are of diverse opinion over his arrest. Some believed that the pirate radio station was over-reaching its bounds, while some are commending Kanu for unearthing a number of things that were largely unknown to the public.
