Onwudiwe said that Momodu, publisher of The Boss magazine,
“met (with Diezani) on a personal visit with the family.”
The lawyer added that the journalist and the family had had a good relationship in the past.
The lawyer Onwudiwe restated that the family didn’t give any permission to take Alison-Madueke’s photo. He noted that the ex-minister’s family became “very upset” about what has emerged after the meeting between Nigerian journalist and the ex-minister.
Onwudiwe revealed that Diezani and her family were not ready for her to make public comments yet.
The revelations done by the former petroleum minister in the interview have caused national controversy. During the interview Diezani rejected ever stealing money while in government.
Meanwhile, a significant part of the Nigerian public considers her assertion to be untrue.
When Momodu was contacted he said he did not know who Oscar Onwudiwe was, continuing that he therefore could not have sought authorization from the lawyer.
He added: “I do not want to be drawn into this controversy.”
Nigeria’s former oil, who was arrested in London on suspicion of bribery and money laundering earlier in October, recently asked Nigerians to pray for her in support of her alleged fight against cancer.
