Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has denied making any Facebook post on the judgment of the Taraba State Governorship Election Tribunal which cancel the election of Governr Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic party and declared Aisha Alhassan of the APC as the winner of the April 11, 2015 election.
Governor Nyesome Wike
Wike who spoke through his special assistant on media, Simeon Nwakaudu, described the said post as fake and asked Nigerians to disregard such message as it stemmed from impersonator. He explained that he does not run any Facebook page where these remarks were made, Vanguard reports.
The fake Facebook post with a title Rape of Justice read in part: “Election Tribunal could sit in Boko Haram main zone in Borno and Yobe whereas rivers and Taraba was moved to Abuja due to security reasons is Yobe and Borno more secured than Rivers and Taraba? Our democrasy is crying under APC and Buhari.”
He further asked that all social media platforms and blogs who had published the uncomplimentary remarks should pull it down as it did not represent the view of Wike on the issue.
Nwakaudu added that the governor at a stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt said that he had not authorized anyone to disrespect the integrity of the judiciary through negative utterances.
The statement concluded by stating that the said post was the handiwork of the opposition using unverified social media platforms to mislead members of the public.
Meanwhile, new findings had showed that members of the PDP might have deserted the party secretariat following the ruling of Taraba state election petition tribunal.
It was learnt that none of the officials of the party were found in any of the offices while the few who were there wore grim faces.
