[News] Bayelsa 2015: Alaibe’s associates fault Sylva’s alleged emergence as APC consensus candidate

Associates of the former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and governorship aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Timi Alaibe yesterday faulted the report that the former Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva has emerged a consensus candidate of the party ahead of the September 22 governorship primaries of the party.
A close confidant to Alaibe, Richard Akinaka, described the report as fictitious, untrue and a deliberate attempt by the authors to cause disaffection within the APC ahead of the primaries.
According to Akinaka, the APC leadership has never met with any of the governorship aspirants on the issue of consensus candidate.
He added that the aspirants led by Timi Alaibe will participate fully in the primaries of the party, noting that investigations by the party showed that the report was a figment of the imagination of the author insisting that the report, which is suspicious is the handi-work of non-members of the APC.
“They have discovered that a more democratic conduct of the APC primaries and the emergence of a widely acceptable candidate may lead to the end of fraud and lack of internal democratic government of the PDP.
“Timi Alaibe is not afraid of contesting in a free and fair primaries. He is not in negotiation with the leadership of the party for ministerial slot,” he said
