The Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Peter Amangbo, has expressed delight over the recent partnership agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation on three key projects including grassroots development.
Amangbo said Zenith Bank was always committed to helping people attain their dreams in their chosen fields.
He said it was exciting for the bank to be embarking on a developmental journey with the apex football ruling body in the country all for the sake of the youths.
The Zenith Bank CEO said: “We are happy that those in charge of football now are young people with so much passion for the game. Our bank believes in operating with the benchmark of global standard and that is the template the NFF brought to us.
“I recall that Principal Cup competition and the various youth football events were always glorious in the past. The country was able to raise good players then and we are happy to be working with the NFF for the revival of such competitions.”
The NFF on Monday stated that the body would stage U-13, U-15 and U-19 competitions nationwide in the next four months to boost the development of the game. The final of the competitions will take place in January.
The winning teams are expected to travel to the UK to play against their counterparts in England.
“Nigeria is blessed with many talented young ones and it is important to identify them early. If this is done, the country will benefit at the end. We are really proud to be part of this project,” Amangbo added.
The Zenith Bank MD urged stakeholders in the round leather game to support the NFF in its drive to take football to the grassroots.
NFF President Amaju Pinnick speaking on the deal said Zenith and the football body had many things in common.
“We do our things in modern way in accordance with the best practices all over the world just like the Zenith Bank,” Pinnick said.
