Two teens were arrested on a charge of s*xual exploitation of a child after they were found to have unclad pictures of themselves on their phones, police in North Carolina said. Now, Cormega Copening and Brianna Denson, who were both 16 years old at the time of their arrest, have been sentenced to do 30 hours of community service after pleading guilty to reduced charges as part of a plea bargain agreement with prosecutors.
Copening of Fayetteville, was charged with four counts of making and possessing P0*nographic images of himself as well as with one count of possession of a unclad image for possessing a unclad picture of his 16-year-old girlfriend Brianna Denson.
Denson also faced charges for having unclad pictures of herself on her cellphone. While the images were deemed illegal under state law, s*x between the couple was not illegal as the legal age of consent is 16 years old.
The unclad images were discovered by police as they were investigated the widespread distribution of s*xual images without consent at the couple’s school. Copening and Denson were sentenced to pay court costs, to attend a class on good decision making and perform 30 hours of community service. They were also prohibited from possessing a cellphone for a year.
