After 42 Days, Kidnappers Free Four In Rivers State

With exactly One month and twelve days in the abductors dungeon, a Corps member, three teachers and a security guard kidnapped from the State Secondary School in Agban-Ndele in Ndele community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers state have regained freedom.
It was not clear at press time if ransom was paid and how much. The cherry news of their release filtered-in today November 25 but no full details yet.
However, the paramount ruler of Ndele community, Eze Godwin Iraowusi, confirmed the pleasant development but kept mum on their state of health at the time of this report.
The corps members, three teachers and a security guard of that abducted on Monday October 12 were reduced their total ransom from N50 million to N25 million and later N2.5 million each victim added up to N12.5million.
Earlier, Iraowusi, revealed that the kidnappers had opened up channels of  negotiation with the community through one of the chiefs and had come down from the total amount of N12.5 million, that is N2.5million on each of victim.
The paramount ruler had insisted that Ndele is a poor community and cannot afford such a huge amount in sum. He pleaded for unconstitutional release of the victims who had suffered enough indignities for more than a month for the sake of God and humanity.
The details of those kidnapped on Monday, October 12, included: Joseph Dimkpa, Martina Ofuru, and Charity Mbajike.
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Obinna Duru, and a security guard, Jonathan Woforu.
The Corps member, Obinna Duru, missed participating in passing out parade held across the country about three week ago.
Eze Iraowusi had said that the kidnappers made contact through one of his chiefs.
He said: “They (abductors) have been able to call; they called one of my chiefs, and they have reduced the demand from N25million to N2.5 million but the community is poor and cannot raise such.
“I am pleading that, at least, for the sake of God and for the sake of humanity, release those four persons. Two of them are women and two of them are men.
How can you take women to God knows where. They took them through the Sombrero river. Are they keeping them in the creeks. Are they keeping them in the bush? Are they keeping them under what condition? They should please release them,” he appealed.
Ikechi Chimezie, the Community Development Committee (CDC), Chairman of Agba-Ndele, confirmed the contact with kidnappers but asked for unconditional release for humanity sake.
In another development, the Mother of Journalist based in Port Harcourt (who does not want his name mentioned) was set free where she abducted somewhere in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni  Local Government Area after N400,000 was paid as random.
The Journalist said the family was compelled to cough out the ransom when the kidnappers threatened to kill his mother if they do not meet their demand.
