Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has likened
administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to that of Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, where the rule of law was not
respected.
He said it was no surprise to him being that they both have same military background, This Day reports.
Speaking at the confluence stadium in Lokoja during the grand finale
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally for its Kogi state
governorship candidate, Capt. Idris Wada, the governor said the
Buhari-led administration has no iota of respect for human rights.
“If you look and search the style of Buhari’s administration and
compare it with that of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who ruled the country
between 1999 and 2007, the two administrations have a resemblance of
military dictatorship,” he said. D
Fayose claimed that Buhari only concentrated on chasing members of
the PDP over alleged corruption and his only achievement was
shadow-chasing.
“The APC-led government only goes around the challenges
confronting the nation, the issue of Boko Haram, and the dwindling
economic situation became worse in the last six months of the Buhari
administration. This government has only achieved a lot in the area of
chasing shadows, making the nation worse for the people.

“It is laughable when the APC national body cleared Abubakar Audu
to contest the governorship election when he is facing trail in the
Lokoja High Court and in Abuja. Where was President Buhari? Can he claim
that he is not in the know?” he asked.
The governor also accused the federal government of releasing the sum
of N12.5 billion from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) as donation
to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state to enable the
party perpetrate rigging in the upcoming election.
He called on President Buhari to carefully look around himself before
going after other people, pointing out that every citizen had equal
right and the nation belongs to Nigerians.
Governor Fayose in a statement on Sunday, November 15, said he did not believe in the TSA
and vowed not to partake in the meeting scheduled between the federal
government and the state governors. According to him, the TSA policy was
a fraud against the Nigerian people.
However, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture said the president has unblemished reputation
for integrity, due process, transparency and the rule of law. He
dismissed the allegations making the rounds that Buhari was funding the
Kogi elections with the TSA.
