England fans urged to sing La Marseillaise - here's the lyrics

England fans have been urged to join in the singing of La Marseillaise in what will be a powerful sign of solidarity before the match against France at Wembley on Tuesday.

Since the attacks on Paris on Friday evening, videos have been shared across social media of fans singing La Marseillaise and those at Wembley will be encouraged to join in as a show of unity.
The FA has organised for the words to be displayed on the big screens with La Marseillaise to be played after God Save The Queen.

Additionally, the FA will replace the usual St George’s Cross, formed by fans holding up coloured cards, with the Tricolour.

La Marseillaise: First verse and chorus

Allons enfants de la Patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrive!
Contre nous de la tyrannie,
L'etendard sanglant est leve
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes
Mugir ces feroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras
Egorger vos fils, vos compagnes!
Chorus: Aux armes, citoyens,
Formez vos bataillons,
Marchons, marchons,
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons (repeat)
English translation
Arise, children of the Fatherland,
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us tyranny's
Bloody banner is raised
Do you hear, in the countryside,
The roar of those ferocious soldiers?
They're coming right into your arms
To cut the throats of your sons, your women!
Chorus: To arms, citizens,
Form your battalions,
Let's march, let's march,
Let an impure blood
Water our furrows.
