NDLEA Apprehends Six Suspected Drug Traffickers

Nigeria’s anti-narcotic body, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has arrested six suspected drug traffickers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with substances that tested positive for drugs.

According to Ahmadu Garba, the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, who was quoted by the Nation newspaper, those arrested include Gabriel Chidimma Juliet (25), caught with 2.9kg of cocaine in a duty-free bag, Anagbogu Churchill Okwudili (48), who ingested 47 wraps of cocaine weighing 940 grammes and Enenchi Jerome Oguejiefor (36) who concealed 5.5kg of cannabis inside fufu.
Others are Ani Kennedy Tochukwu (32), who packed 21 wraps of cocaine weighing 350 grammes inside jeans trousers, Eletamuzor Celestine Kenechukwu (28) caught with a kilogramme of ephedrine inside hair attachment and Okpala Vitus Arinzechukwu (35) caught with 2.72kg of cocaine.

The agency said the drug traffickers are currently being interrogated by its operatives for further information which could lead to other big arrests.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Senate committee on drugs and narcotics, Philip Aruwa Gyunka, on Thursday, November 26,
Speaking against the backdrop of his inauguration as the vice chairman of the Senate committee on drugs and narcotics, Gyunka stated that Nigeria needs capable and accountable regulatory policies that are responsive to the needs of Nigerian communities and the evolving methods of Nigerian drug traffickers.
