Shocking news just reaching supersport.com out of Bayelsa State is that Madam Ogere Siasia, 72, has been kidnapped. She is the mother of Samson Siasia, the coach of the Nigerian U23 Dream Team.
According to an NPF spokesman who spoke to supersprt.com exclusively, the elderly lady was abducted in the village of Odoni, Bayelsa State, by three men on motorbike. She was the only one at home taking care of her husband who is partially blind.
Siasia, who weeks ago was in the papers himself complaining about not been paid in months, was in shock saying: "What do they expect from me? I don't have money. I am right now on national duty and need all the time to concentrate on this very important national task, so I beg them to please release my mother so that I can concentrate on qualifying the U23 national team for the men’s football event at the Rio Olympics."
On learning of the unfortunate incident on Tuesday morning, NFF President Amaju Pinnick was both shocked and saddened, sharing: “This is quite disturbing. The U23 boys are already in The Gambia for a pre-Cup of Nations training camp. Why this?” Pinnick asked.
A state-wide manhunt has started for the kidnappers with the NPF vowing to leave no stone unturned in their effort to free Mrs Siasia.
