Amidst the growing agitation for an independent Biafra state championed by some Igbo people, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged the protesters to push for the unity of Nigeria as Biafra ended 45 years ago.

Daily Post reports that the deputy chairman of ACF, Alhaji Liman Musa Kwande said there was no need to revive the civil war and urged Igbo youths to channel their energy towards developing Nigeria rather than engaging in protests.
He said: “ACF once again call upon the Igbo youth and indeed other Nigerians to channel their energy, resources, talent and time into useful ventures that will promote unity and development rather than allow themselves to be used for such futile agitation.
“It is sad and unfortunate that it is now 45 years the issue of Biafra was settled after the civil war in 1970 and some elements are now busy instigating the innocent youth in the south eastern states to an irresponsible protest, which in most cases have degenerated into violence with serious consequences on the lives and property of innocent and law abiding Nigerians.”
The deputy chairman advised the protesters to embrace peace as nothing positive would come from the agitation and that “Nigerians are now united in a democratic system of governance.”
Kwande applauded some state governors and traditional rulers from the northern and southern parts of the country for intervening in order to douse the tension caused by the protrests.
Meanwhile, angered northern youths condemned promoters of a new agitation to revive Biafra and divide Nigeria. The urged the protesters to stop their agitation and embrace unity.
