Delta Justice Commissioner Charges Legal Officers To Be Diligent In Their Duties

Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, has concluded his maiden tour of eight out of the 10 Zonal Offices of the ministry spread across the state and said that he was irrevocably committed to revamping the operations of the zones for optimal performance.

Barr Mrakpor who took a tour of the Zonal Offices of the Ministry located at Kwale, Ozoro,  Ughelli, Bomadi, Otu-Jeremi, Effurun, Warri and Orerokpe in company of the Solicitor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Okirhienyefa and Directors, said that the visit was for him to get first hand information on the working conditions of the Zones and see how the various challenges he observed could be addressed through proper planning and budgetary provision.

The Attorney-General decried the level of infrastructural decay in the Bomadi Zonal Office, saying that it was unacceptable for Legal Officers to work under such extreme conditions.

While assuring the Zonal Heads of his total commitment to upgrade their offices and working conditions in line with standard best practices,  he disclosed that some of the Zones might be collapsed altogether for ease of effective management while the Ughelli Zonal office will serve as a central point to service courts around the area with a well equipped law library.

Mrakpor commended staff of Ministry for their resourcefulness, commitment and all their personal sacrifices in moving the Ministry forward and directed the legal officers to return all Magistrate Courts cases in their possession back to the Police and concentrate on more serious cases pending at the various High Courts and appellate.
