Markets and other socio-economic activities in Aba, commercial nerve centre of Abia State, were Monday paralyzed following a massive protest mounted by members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) and Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB)
The Pro MASSOB and IPOB protesters who are currently agitating for the unconditional release of the Nnamdi Kanu who is currently detained for allegedly running an illegal radio station that is agitating for a Sovereign State of Biafra.
Daily independent in Aba reports that in spite of heavy presence of combined joint patrol of the Nigeria Police and army, the protesters whose presence virtually took over the vicinity of Aba North, South Local Government Councils forced residents to close down shops and business concerns for fear of been caught up in the built up open confrontation between the security and the protesters.
However at press town, there are no reported cases of any casualties, but it was gathered that as at 10:36 am, Business activities at Ariaria, Eziukwu, Ngwa Road and Cemetery have all been forced to close down for business.
