This Kim Kardashian Makeup Tip Could Seriously Mess Up Your Skin See Details

Queen of glamour and beauty Kim Kardashian recently admitted to breaking the cardinal rule of makeup — never sleep without taking your makeup off — and she’s damn proud of it. While introducing Makeup Artist of the Year, Charlotte Tillbury, at the InStyle Awards, Kim said:
“…Charlotte Tilbury is my hero because she has never let her husband see her without makeup on. She sleeps with her makeup on. She’s my idol. She’s inspired me when I am really lazy and I can’t do my makeup the next day, so I’ll sleep in my makeup. I know that’s probably the worst advice, but she has all the magic creams to put on the next day to make up for it.”
Kim is known for her flawless beauty tactics, which made us wonder: Is sleeping in your makeup really that bad? In short, yes. It is. There are countless articles around the internet of dermatologists detailing the short-term and long-term effects of going to bed with your makeup on.
Dr. Eric Schweiger told the Huffington Post, “Sleeping in your makeup can result in unnecessary exposure to the free radicals in the environment, which the makeup holds on to. Free radicals cause the breakdown of healthy collagen, which results in fine lines on the skin. Additionally, makeup can clog the pores while you sleep, resulting in the development of acne.”
“During the day you accumulate a lot of oxidative stress,” NYC-based Dr. Erin Gilbert also told HuffPo, “When you sleep in your makeup you are not giving your skin a chance to recover from those insults, which can lead to premature aging.”
The best case scenario of being a repeat offender of sleeping with makeup on is the likelihood of a few more blemishes. The worst is premature aging. We love you, Kim, but TBH, it doesn’t seem like it’s worth it.
