It was reported that the number of deaths caused by the Islamic terror group in 2014 has surpassed that of ISIS.
The stronghold of the insurgents in Sambisa forest was bombarded by the air force, and hundreds of captives regained their freedom.
The coming on board of the new service chiefs also added bite to the crackdown. The Army chief continues to lead operations against the insurgents; a move which has boosted the morale of the troops.

Thought the minister of defence insists that the end of Boko Haram is near, last month’s attack on the 157 Battalion, which the army downplayed, is reputed to be the worst recently.
The experts also said that it’s one thing to end boko Haram yet another to stem the tide of insurgency in the country.
In the same vein, retired air commodore Yusuf Anas who is also the executive secretary of the Centre for Crisis Communication has also said that the December deadline set by President Muhammadu Buhari to wipe out the Boko Haram insurgency is not feasible.
He said although the Nigerian military was making headway in the fight against Boko Haram, the December deadline needed to be reviewed.
