Vanguard reports that the 30 year old tapper simply identified as Mr. Inibu had gone to the bush to tap wine along the community road to Ashaka on Tuesday, December 1 when the herdsmen ambushed and killed him.

Othuke Omejedo who is the Olotu-Logbo of the Ofagbe kingdom confirmed the incident. He said a market woman was the first to see the lifeless body and ran to him to report it.
“One woman ran to me that as she was going to the market, she met the lifeless body of a boy lying on the ground on the road leading to Ashaka. She said another one was injured.”
He said the injured person; Mr. Thompson Ogege was taken to a hospital for treatment while the deceased was taken to a mortuary in Ozoro.
The traditional ruler said the injured man told them that they were in the bush tapping wine when the Fulani herdsmen opened fire on them.
Omejedo said the attack was a surprise as the herdsmen had not been living in the community.
“We have never had any problem with the herdsmen because they have not been living in this community.”
Ina related development, Chinwuba Ekwueme, a villager in Egede community in the Udi local council of Enugu state was murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
